Life at Chasewater House

What we've been up to

A monthly snapshot of life at Chasewater House: days out, achievements, celebrations and everyday moments.

August 2026

Adventures, Aquariums and a Homelier Office

For Chasewater, August meant getting out and about. Alton Towers, the Black Country Living Museum and Bristol Aquarium were all visited, as well as a four-night camping trip to Brean Sands and making a den in the woods. A brilliant time was had by all, much more successful than the trek up a local hill to watch a cloudy eclipse! Never mind though, the picnic tea lifted spirits, it takes more than a bit of cloud to bring us down!
On the staff front, the team has continued to develop and gel, as well as having open and honest conversations around the challenges we face, all part of the culture we are striving to create.
The home itself has had a bit of a spruce up, with the main office space being softened to create a more homely atmosphere and some little additions to the play room.

Chasewater House: A New Chapter Begins

After twelve months of renovation, rebuilding and careful preparation, Chasewater House is ready to welcome children once more. We spoke to House Manager Jon about the journey, the team, and the vision for what comes next.
Some milestones take time. The reopening of Chasewater House has been twelve months in the making - twelve months of structural renovation, interior refurbishment, recruitment, training, and the meticulous preparation that responsible residential childcare demands. That work is now complete. Chasewater House has been fully transformed, a new team is in place, and Ofsted have confirmed that the home is ready.
For Genesis CTE, this is more than a building reopening. It is a recommitment to the values that have guided the organisation for over thirty years: that every child deserves a home that is safe, nurturing, and built around their individual needs.
House Manager Jon has been central to everything that has happened at Chasewater over the past year. Alongside Deputy Manager Amy, Jon has helped shape not only the physical space but the culture, the team, and the vision that will define Chasewater House going forward. In the video below, Jon speaks candidly about the journey - what has been achieved, what the home will offer, and what he hopes Chasewater will mean for the children who live there.

A WORD FROM OUR CEO
"It's an exciting time. Twelve months in the making, Chasewater House is ready to open its doors to children again. The home has a brand-new team and I'm 100% confident that Jon and Amy will prove experienced and great leaders. The home has undergone a great makeover and Ofsted have confirmed our readiness. I've been impressed by the quality and energy of the staff we have recruited so far, and I know Jon has lots of plans - for children and staff alike. I'm sure Chasewater House will prove a really fulfilling opportunity for anyone wanting to join the team."
- Martin Davies, CEO, Genesis CTE
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Chasewater House is approved, staffed, and ready. Jon is currently working closely with local authorities across the region to identify children for whom Chasewater is the right home - not simply the nearest available placement, but a genuinely considered match based on each child's individual needs, history, and the specific therapeutic environment that Chasewater can provide.
This approach reflects something fundamental about how Genesis CTE operates. Filling a home quickly has never been the measure of success. Finding the right children for the right home, and ensuring that the support around them is built to last, is what defines the difference between residential care that merely functions and residential care that genuinely changes lives.
